[Updated] Senior Boys 13 and above

Thornhill Soccer Club uses the player assessment and evaluation process to find the right players to form teams that can compete at the highest possible levels. This does not always mean the selection of the best individual players. Skill on the field is a critical factor, but other less quantitative factors are considered, such as attitude, vision, decision-making, work ethic and coachability.

Teams require different players to perform different roles. For example, there are strikers, midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers. Within each group, you may want one strong/physical player, one speedy player, one player with extreme foot skills, and another who has strong vision and can read the game as it unfolds. In addition, you may want different players to take on the roles of acquisition, distribution, and transportation of the ball.

The purpose of the evaluation/assessment and the evaluators’ job is to incorporate all of these factors and find the right combination of skills, attitudes, and roles to build a competitive team.

What To Wear

Players must be dressed appropriately. They must wear appropriate footwear, and shin guards must be worn under, and completely covered by the sock.

Players must bring a properly inflated ball of the appropriate size for the age group for which they are trying out.  Players must also bring an adequate supply of water.

Each assessment/evaluation consists of three sessions. Players are encouraged to attend all three days as it significantly improves their chances of being selected for a team. In some instances, players may be called back for an additional look. If you cannot make all the days, you must notify the TSC coordinators, who will inform the coaches and evaluators.

Check-In

All players must pre-register for the open trials at https://form.jotform.com/222433662010240. There is no charge for trials.
